Record Label Research BY JADE EMANS

Polydor is headquartered in London and is owned by Universal music group. However the record label was founded in Germany in 1946,the UK division of Polydor was not established until ten years later. This was a record label that found youth culture for the first time. In the early 1970s the main source of income for Polydor was Slade, a highly successful UK band.Later, in the late 1970s and early 1980s, the label was also home to The Jam and successful British glam rock act Sweet signed on in 1977. Although Polydor's American branch is defunct, Polydor remains one of the United Kingdom's strongest labels with artists such as; Take That, Girls Aloud, Cheryl Cole, La Roux, Duffy, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, The Saturdays, Alphabeat, S Club 7, S Club 8, Rachel Stevens, Ellie Goulding and Kate Nash.

Polydor records has its own website as a use of promotion, the website is composed in a way that would encourage people to listen to the artists that they have signed. They have seperate pages giving information of new releases, tour dates and their labels.
