Q1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
At the beginning of our project during the research and planning stage I researched the different conventions in all music videos. This gave a a basic understanding as to what you would expect to see in our finished product. I then went on to look at the conventions specific to our chosen genre, pop. I looked in detail at the mise-en-scene of a range of different pop videos as well as the cinematography and the editing techniques used. From these I was able to begin thinking of ideas that I needed to include to allow it to be a part of this genre as well as developing the ideas I already had. With my ideas I got from the conventions we created surveys using SurveyMonkey to ask people of our target audience what they expected to see in pop videos and also ask their opinions on some of the ideas we had.
We decided to challenge a number of conventions as we wanted the brand image of our artist to be unique and stand out in the pop industry. One convention we challenged quite a lot was the idea that pop videos are bright and colourful. To challenge this we decided to use dark lighting in some of the shots as well as the artist not always looking overly happy. Although we challenged this we still included bright colours from the balloons and bright lighting as we still wanted to keep to the pop genre. As well as challenging the conventions we also developed many of them. For example we were inspired by a few video that had done an extreme close-up of the artists lips whilst lip syncing. We liked this idea a lot and developed it by adding a leopard print lip tattoo.

Q3. What have you learned from your audience feedback?
Throughout the creation of our product we uploaded our project at different stages to receive audience feedback. This helped us multiple times has we always knew what we had to improve on. This social media site is a good way to receive feedback as the people that commented were the correct age for our target audience.
The comments we received have help us as a group to understand what people like and dislike about our products. As these were just the first drafts we were able to go back and improve them and work on the advice that people had offered and improve what they did not like about it.
Another way we used Facebook was to decide whether or not to include colour on the front cover of our digipack. Emma Holt uploaded the choices that we had and the feedback we received for this helped to to decide not to include the colour as most the people said that they preferred the one without.

Q3. What have you learned from your audience feedback?
We received audience feedback by making a number of different people watch and view the media products we created. This allowed us to learn many things about our products such as what people liked and disliked. Through doing this we learned what we could improve or develop.
Once everyone had completed their music videos we created a survery using SurveyMonkey and sent the link to everyone in our year group for them to fill out. As seen in the image we came 2nd out of the 11.

Q4. How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
This is a video we created using iMovie. Once we exported it we uploaded it onto YouTube and through the website we created tags on top of the video to describe what we were doing on FinalCut and Photoshop.
Q4. How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
The video above shows a number of technologies we used whist creating our music video. This includes setting up the tripod and attaching the camera we used to film. The video goes on to show us setting up the area we used to film. At 0.41 seconds you see that we had the main lights off and we used the spot lights and other colour lights (including red) to create a professional feel.
Q4. How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
Research:
During the research stage we used many forms of technologies. One of these technologies was the website SurveyMonkey. This site allowed us to construct our own surveys that would help us to plan our media products by understanding what people within our target audience expected to see for our genre.
2 of the main things was that people expected to see bright lighting and a range of bright colours. From this it helped us to decide that one of our locations would be outside using the sun as our main light source and when we were inside we chose to have bright lights on our artist. We took the response that we should use a range of bright colours and used it in both our digipack and music video. On the central panel of our digipack (where the CD would go) we added different colours over images of our artist at random which fits in with our genre. For our actual music video we used the balloons as a way to include a range of colours.
Another convention that we decided to follow due to the feedback we got in our surveys and other research we conducted was the change of locations and the change of costumes. These changes a quick shot rotations between them reduced viewer fatigue and ties in with the pop genre.
Planning:
The main source of media technology in the planning stage was probably the internet including our email accounts as we used this to send requests to use different locations. We used Facebook as well as our emails to help us get a bike with a basket that we needed for some scenes in our music video. Most of the other things we done in the planning stage was on paper as this was easier for us to do. Because of this we needed to upload these plans to our blog and to do this we used a scanner. On some of the plans once we scanned them in I enhanced it with the use of Photoshop and sometimes added things to it including annotations.

Blogger was the main technology I used as I used it throughout the creation of my media products. Blogger has helped me document each piece of my work easily and allows me to go back and view past posts allowing me to check the planning post like storyboards and ideas to make sure I am sticking to my ideas and so I do not forget anything.
YouTube is another site that I have used throughout each stage. I used the site to research music videos and to discover the conventions of all music video and the conventions of my genre. I done this by watching music videos my real artists in my genre like Eliza Doolittle and Ellie Goulding. Throughout the planning stage I used YouTube to upload the videos I had created like the video on the storyboard and CD cover draft ideas. I have use YouTube in the evaluation stage to uploads the Focus Group Feedback video we created and the video of us setting up and packing away when we were filming the music video. We also used YouTube to upload drafts of our music video so we could easily put them on Facebook and other social media sites to receive feedback.

Q4. How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
To create the digipack and advert I used Photoshop CS3. This was useful not only in the construction of our products but also in the research and planning stages. It allowed me to create my ideas successfully and effectively and as I got more confident with Photoshop and learnt new tools and effects I could create lots of different ideas which helped me in my final product to create just the right effect and what we wanted it to look like. Photoshop was also good in the construction of our final products to create a professional feel to it. We done this by using the brush tool and the clone tool to create flawless skin that you often see in pop genre product. We also made added colour the the centre panel of the digipack to allow it to tie in with our music video and link with the bright colours that you often see in the pop genre.
