During the research stage we used many forms of technologies. One of these technologies was the website SurveyMonkey. This site allowed us to construct our own surveys that would help us to plan our media products by understanding what people within our target audience expected to see for our genre.
2 of the main things was that people expected to see bright lighting and a range of bright colours. From this it helped us to decide that one of our locations would be outside using the sun as our main light source and when we were inside we chose to have bright lights on our artist. We took the response that we should use a range of bright colours and used it in both our digipack and music video. On the central panel of our digipack (where the CD would go) we added different colours over images of our artist at random which fits in with our genre. For our actual music video we used the balloons as a way to include a range of colours.Another convention that we decided to follow due to the feedback we got in our surveys and other research we conducted was the change of locations and the change of costumes. These changes a quick shot rotations between them reduced viewer fatigue and ties in with the pop genre.
Planning:
The main source of media technology in the planning stage was probably the internet including our email accounts as we used this to send requests to use different locations. We used Facebook as well as our emails to help us get a bike with a basket that we needed for some scenes in our music video. Most of the other things we done in the planning stage was on paper as this was easier for us to do. Because of this we needed to upload these plans to our blog and to do this we used a scanner. On some of the plans once we scanned them in I enhanced it with the use of Photoshop and sometimes added things to it including annotations.
Blogger was the main technology I used as I used it throughout the creation of my media products. Blogger has helped me document each piece of my work easily and allows me to go back and view past posts allowing me to check the planning post like storyboards and ideas to make sure I am sticking to my ideas and so I do not forget anything.
YouTube is another site that I have used throughout each stage. I used the site to research music videos and to discover the conventions of all music video and the conventions of my genre. I done this by watching music videos my real artists in my genre like Eliza Doolittle and Ellie Goulding. Throughout the planning stage I used YouTube to upload the videos I had created like the video on the storyboard and CD cover draft ideas. I have use YouTube in the evaluation stage to uploads the Focus Group Feedback video we created and the video of us setting up and packing away when we were filming the music video. We also used YouTube to upload drafts of our music video so we could easily put them on Facebook and other social media sites to receive feedback.
